This sculptural piece begins on the wheel, where the base form is created upside down. Once it has firmed up slightly, it is flipped and refined by hand using trimming tools. Because the clay dries quickly, the flowers must be attached with speed, any weak connection can lead to breakage later in the process.

Each flower is individually hand-cut and pinched into shape, with two ripples designed into every petal. Leaves are also incorporated throughout the composition, adding depth and movement.

The inspiration for this piece came from observing blooming flowers in coastal shrubs from above, where blossoms cluster closely together, each one nestled on on top of another in a natural rhythm.

 

This is a hanging sculpture, fully finished and ready to display with hardware included and installed.

For Tableware: Dishwasher safe (top shelf preferred), durable, food safe. Suitable for both hot and cold drinks.

No lead or cadmium are used in any of my products.
